What is a church? Some say a church means a building where people come and gather and .But the church is a building that helps people to gather and share a bout God’s word, worship and praise God.

God uses people or the church to tell others about Him.

This is how the church began

THE BIBLE STORY

Jesus began the church

(Acts 1:4,2:1–47)

Before Jesus left this earth to go back to heaven, He talked to His disciples.

Jesus asked His friends to go and tell everyone about Him.

Jesus wanted every little boy and girl, woman and man to know that he loved them.

He also told the disciples to stay in the city of Jerusalem for a little while because God was going to do something very special!

Not long after this, the disciples were meeting together in the room to pray and talk. Suddenly, God sent a sound like the blowing of a very strong wind into the room.

The sound filled the Whole room.

At that moment the men began to speak in other languages. “What is happening?”they must have shouted. Then they realized, this was the special thing that Jesus had promised.

God was giving them a power to be bold and courageous so they could tell the whole world 🌍 about Jesus!

There were other people outside of the room who heard the strange sound, too.

Many people began to gather to find out what was going on.

Peter was one of the disciples in the room that day.

Peter boldly stood in front of the crowd and talked to them about Jesus.

He told them about Jesus' life on this earth.

He talked about the wonderful miracles Jesus had done.

Peter told them Jesus' death but he also explained that Jesus was now alive and in heaven with God.

Peter expressed that Jesus' love was for everyone.

Many people believed what Peter had to say that day. This group of people became the church.

Everyday the people of the church met to pray and learn more about Jesus.

They ate together, served one another and helped anyone who was on need.

Peter and the other disciples continued to tell others about Jesus and more and more churches were started because of their teachings.
